At WoodcotePrimary School our aim is to create a positive attitude towards physical exercise and inspire the development of skill, through high quality PE lessons. Our PE curriculum has been chosen carefully with the intention to challenge each individual to develop their knowledge and skills; showing steady progression across each year group and key stage, with teachers helping appropriate that challenge. This enables our children to perform at the best of their capability. We aim to provide the children with at least 2 fun, engaging and active PE lessons every week and to keep the children healthy and active every day and by educating them on a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle. We offer a range of sports and endeavour to step outside the box and deliver sessions that you wouldn’t expect to see in a primary curriculum: American football, Lacrosse, Ultimate frisbee and Archery to name a few. We also have a great OAA programme that best uses the amazing facilities we have on offer.
As well as an inspiring, challenging and engaging curriculum, we also strive to give as many children as possible the opportunity to compete in a variety of events, during school time or by representing Woodcote out of school at local competitions. We believe that in doing so, the children will develop a character that demonstrates our school’s 6 core values.
It is also of paramount importance that we create sporting leaders during the children’s time at Woodcote. We offer lots of opportunities for children to engage in the wider school community by leading sporting activities, organising games, inter-house events and imparting on other children an idea of what it is to lead by example.
We believe that, through the range extra-curricular clubs, school sport and physical activity we offer at Woodcote, children will be inspired to develop a love and passion for sport and continue this into their later lives.
PE and Sport are a proud part of the Woodcote experience and we hope that this continues to grow in the future.
