Dear Parent, Carers and Staff,
Autumn Term Governor Summary
Term Highlights
It’s been a busy Autumn Term!
It started off with a visit from Ofsted inspectors which resulted in Woodcote Primary retaining their Outstanding status.
The Governing Board would like to congratulate all staff for their incredible hard work and dedication resulting in this fantastic achievement.
Thank you also to the PTFA for wonderful Christmas Fair which kickstarted the festivities and to all families for their support. You may have spotted some of the governors working hard on the BBQ!

The Christmas Performances over the past few weeks have been wonderful. Thank you to all staff and parents for their hard work with rehearsals, costumes and support.

Governing Board Changes
This term we have had a few changes on the Governing Board:
In October Nicola Long was voted in as Chair of Governors. Nicola, a parent of a child in year 4, was previously Vice-Chair and has been on the board for over two years.
We would like to thank outgoing  Chair James Collins for his tremendous contribution to the group over his many years in this role. James remains fully committed as co-opted Governor.
Parent Governor, Allison Mackenzie, is now Vice-Chair.
We have two departing Governors, Dharmista (Dee) Patel and Staff Governor Peter Russell. We would like to thank both for their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication over the past two years and wish them all the best.
Finally, we have two new recruits; newly elected Staff Governor, Year 5 teacher, Emma Healy, and returning Co-Opted Governor, Educational Psychologist and Woodcote parent of three, Nicola Tallis. We warmly welcome both to the board.

What do we do?
We meet once a month and our objectives include:
– Offering strategic direction to the school
– Reviewing the school’s Vision Statement and Development Plan and ensuring that continuous improvement is achieved.
– Setting budgets and challenging to ensure best value.
– Ensuring the health and safety of all users of the school premises, including procedures for safeguarding children.
– Encouraging good citizenship in the school and community.
All governors visit school at least once a term, as well as attending school events.
You can find us next at the February Parents Evenings, but as many of us are parents, you can catch us in the playground too.
Alternatively if you wish to raise a concern or share an idea or opinion then please do so by either emailing us on or alternatively you can write a letter and give it to the Office to pass onto us.

Along with the Senior Leadership team, the Governors have been reviewing again the benefits of Woodcote Primary joining a Multi Academy Trust.
We will be updating Parents and Carers on our progress with this assessment in the Spring Term.

Finally, and particularly after such a terrible week of illness, we would like to wish you all a very Merry and Healthy Christmas with best wishes for 2020. Thank you for your continued support.
