Dear Parents and Carers of Years 1 to 6

In the next few days, your child will bring home several pieces of paper, giving various login details. These will give you access to learning support and homework for your child.

You will receive login information for Google Classroom. We had hoped to have this set up before next week, but due to technical issues this did not happen. From Monday 28th September, your child’s teacher will post the day’s learning activities on Google Classroom. This is for children who may be in isolation, or in case of class closure, will be able to continue to access learning at home. Some families may also decide to look at the learning available to review and support their children with the learning that is taking place in school.

From Thursday 1st October, the class teachers will post weekly homework for the children on ClassDojo. Weekly homework is posted on a Thursday and is completed online. It can be completed at any point over the week to suit the family. Homework continues to be optional for Years 1 to 4.

Each week the children should complete the following homework.

Daily Reading Children are expected to read daily at home for 20 minutes. From Year 4 this can be independent reading with a follow up discussion with adults.
Spellings Spellings are set weekly from Spelling Shed and include an additional activity. Children have access to the activities on the Spelling Shed App through their login, and information will be placed on Google Classroom weekly.
Multiplication Tables/Maths Facts In Years 2 to 6 the learning of these is supported by the children’s access to TTRockstars through their logins.  In Year 1 the children have access to Numbots to practise their addition and subtraction. This is an additional engaging resource for children, rather than set tasks.
English This work previews, or reviews work the children are doing in class, and will focus on Grammar, Punctuation and Vocabulary. Initially we will share lessons from Oak National, but this may develop over time.
Maths All year groups are set maths learning through the MyMaths website from this term. This will include lessons and homework tasks. Children receive instant feedback, and can make more than one attempt at the work to get it right.

Please do bear with us while we implement these new online resources.
