Birthday Sweets Survey; Many families provide sweets for the class on their child’s birthday. As a school we have continued to allow this, and staff ensure that children must take the sweets home so that families can decide if or when the child eats them. However, this system can still cause issues for some children due to their dietary requirements or parental wishes. We understand there will be a range of views amongst families, so wanted to hear these views so that we can make an informed decision about any next steps we might take.

KS1 Lunch Survey; Each day there are two main meal options, and in addition we offer a jacket potato or pasta option to the children. We have a salad cart and bread on the tables for the children to have with their meals, aswell as a desert or fruit choice. We have been reviewing the options available to children and have asked the kitchen staff to ensure that meals, including Jacket Potato and Pasta, are served up with vegetables on (unless a child specifically requests otherwise and they are then encouraged to go the salad cart). We are aware that some children regularly choose the Jacket Potato or Pasta option rather than the main meal options, and we are considering whether we remove these additional options for children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 to encourage them to try a wider variety of foods. We are interested to hear your views to support us in our decision-making process.
