Weekly Memo 13th December 2019
Did you know?
- Don’t forget there will be no After School Club on the last day of term. School closes at 2.30pm for all pupils on Friday 20th December (including Nursery)
- There will be no Home Learning Clubs next week.
Attendance Feedback from the Children
At the end of November, the children discussed the topics of attendance and punctuality in our cross-phase pupil voice. We asked the children how they thought we should reward and encourage good attendance and punctuality, and they came up with some great ideas that we hope to implement in the new term.
We asked the children how they felt when they are absent or late, and how it made them feel if others are absent or late. The children used words such as sad, nervous, embarrassed, left out, uncomfortable, confused, ashamed, anxious when talking about their own absence or lateness. When talking about the absence of others they focussed their feedback on the disruption this had to their learning.
We are sorry to inform you that we will be losing Miss Friend, Miss Killian and Mrs Patel at the end of term. We thank them for all their hard work and wish them all the best for their next steps.
We have already welcomed some new staff in the last few weeks. Mrs Moon and Ms Das have joined us as Teaching Assistants. Mrs Bonin and Miss Williamson also joined us as Midday Supervisors. In January we will be joined by Mrs Rivett who will replace Miss Killian as our music teacher. We will also be joined by Miss Connolly as a Teaching Assistant. We look forward to them joining our team.
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING DAY
Massive thank you to all you lovely parents and carers who donated to the Xmas Shopping Day and for the £1 donations too. It was a fabulous morning which the children love every year. With a school of nearly 800 children we raised £550 so thank you and of course to all our class reps and volunteers – we couldn’t have done it without you.
Please ensure your children are aware of possible movement of cars on residents drives when walking, cycling or scootering. We have had reports of children almost being hit by cars. Thank you for your support with this.
Well done to Archie from 3D who recently completed his Chief Scout Bronze Award at beaver scouts. This is the highest award available to a beaver scout and involves completion of a wide range of activities over several terms. Furthermore, Archie has also completed every single one of their activity badges. What an amazing achievement!

No After School Club – Friday 20th December 2019
May we remind you that there is no After School Club provision running on Friday 20th December as it is the last day of term. Children should be collected promptly at 2.30pm. Thank you.
On Thursday 5th December, the School A and B Netball Teams travelled to Smitham Primary School in Coulsdon for a League match. Both teams played very well, and the A team managed an amazing 14 – 1 win and the B team, despite playing hard, unfortunately lost to Smitham 6 – 3.
After a quick overnight re-charge of batteries, both Teams played again at Woodcote on Friday, 6th December against Chipstead Valley Primary School. Despite a brief deposit of rain right at the start of the match, the A Team managed a fantastic 10 – 2 win and the B team fought hard for a 1 – 1 draw. Very well-done Teams and many thanks to parents for supporting their children and cheering them on in the cold – not forgetting Alison Spain, Coach and Darren Bignell for this support at both events.
Please can we again ask families to park and drive considerately in our local roads.
