AIMING HIGH – SUCCEEDING TOGETHER
Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @woodcoteprimary
We close for the Summer holidays on Friday 17th July. All children will return to school on Monday 7th September.
We know many of you may still have questions, so ask that you submit any questions using the Google Form HERE. We find these questions useful in helping us to plan and ask that you do take time to ask. Please submit your questions by Midday Monday 20th July. We will share responses to these questions next week.
Safeguarding Concerns During the Holidays
Well Done Finley!
Well Done Thomas!
Thomas, in Woodies, has come third in the competition that we promoted in a weekly memo previous. His poster is also attached if you wish to include in your final Weekly Memo.
Silly Squad Reading Challenge
Please find attached information about this year’s “Silly Squad” Summer Reading Challenge. With the disruption caused by Covid-19, the 2020 Challenge has been launched in a new online digital format, designed to keep children engaged and reading over the summer.
Storyteller John Kirk will be delivering an online performance of Roald Dahl’s “The Twits” on Monday 27th July at 11am. Free tickets are available via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/roald-dahls-the-twits-tickets-112011810340
It’s been a while since we sent any PTFA messages, and the last time we were in touch was Mother’s Day flowers which was forever ago! Behind the scenes the PTFA Committee have been busy planning how we can fundraise and promote community spirit in these rather unusual times, more updates in September.
One thing that could be done remotely was the Year 6 leavers book which we hope has brought some joy. Special thanks to parent Luke Wijsveld who leaves this year. Luke has been absolutely incredible offering his graphic design talents every year to create the book (as well as many posters) and often with tight deadlines!
Wishing our year 6’s the very best at Secondary school, and to all the fantastic parents who have helped and supported us over the years. Please come back and see us at the fairs, you’ll always be welcome!
Very sadly as you know the school disco couldn’t happen, so this has been postponed to 2021. All tickets will carry over to next year when we can fix a date and get the kids dancing at last. Year 6’s have been contacted separately 🙁
We will be in touch in September regarding whether we can run a Second-Hand Uniform sale safely, bearing in mind social distancing rules and with no loitering on the premises.
Fair or no Fair we still plan to hold a Christmas Raffle. As always we need some STAR PRIZES to boost ticket sales, so if you have anything you can offer or know of businesses willing to sponsor all or part of a star prize we can offer lots of promotion in return. Let us know using email@example.com
REPS AND HELPERS
We are looking for volunteers to be Class Reps for the new reception classes of Red and Green in September as well as Woodies. These can be temporary positions until everyone has settled in, but it would mean we can give those classes a point of contact. Class reps help facilitate communication with parents in their class (with a view to building friendships and camaraderie) but also, they also liaise with the PTFA. If you are entering into reception or Woodies and can help please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
IT/Website/Social Media/Graphics help required!
In the coming year we will be losing some of our more techie committee members and we would welcome anyone who would be interested in assisting in managing our website, helping with the school app or updating Facebook and Instagram etc. We also welcome those with graphic design skills for the yearbook (Adobe Indesign) and for posters. Many hands make light work! If you’re able to spare some time and help, let us know via email@example.com
This term we say goodbye to two PTFA committee members who will be leaving Woodcote.
Rania Liapi who joined us over three years ago and since has thrown herself into raffle sourcing, endless shopping for supplies, managing all our external stallholders and helping at all our events. Thank you, Rania, for being such a trouper.
Also, Julia Whitehead who has been on the committee for over 6 years as both Secretary followed by three years as Treasurer. Her energy, humour and absolute commitment to having fun (mostly Christmas related) despite the hard work will be very sorely missed by us all.
Wishing all Woodcote Families and Friends a relaxing summer break, whatever you are able to do, and we hope we can see you in the Autumn.

Please see the guidance for parents for children attending out of school activities https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-for-parents-and-carers-of-children-attending-out-of-school-settings-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak
School Uniform Orders
Please place your orders with Mapac for home delivery prior to the 3rd August, to ensure delivery in time for the start of school.
You are still able to donate to the garden renovation on ParentPay, should you choose to.
Can you support one of our parents?
Starting 1st July one of our parents began the challenge to run 26.2 miles over the month, in support of Cancer Research UK. Joining others in raising vital funds for life-saving research.
Sadly, we all know that cancer is so prevalent. Every penny makes a difference. Particularly in these times where charity shops and other forms of fundraising are closed or postponed.
We continue to think of you
We know this is not easy for anyone. We know that family life can be pretty intense at the moment. But we want you to know that we are thinking of you all and if there is any way that we can support you at home please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
