Weekly Memo 28th February 2020

AIMING HIGH – SUCCEEDING TOGETHER

Did you know?

  • We have started to post again on Twitter so do follow us! @woodcoteprimary
  • Don’t forget we no longer run After School Club on the last day of term. Therefore, there will be no After School Club on Friday 3rd April, and all children will finish at 2.30pm.
  • Please check your emails for the Easter Arrangements and Activities. A copy of this can be found on the school website.
  • Academy Consultation Stakeholder Meetings are taking place at 9am and 7pm on Monday 2nd March in the KS2 Hall. Information can also be found on the school website.

Book Day Monday 2nd March

This year we will be completing activities linked to the book ‘Six Dinner Sid’ by Inga Moore. Children are welcome to come dressed on the day as any book character from any book. Their costume does not need to be related to the book we are focusing on. We look forward to seeing the children and staff dressed up on the day.

There will also be a special menu for Book Day on Monday 2nd March (Attached)

On Monday your children will bring two things home with them. They will bring home their World Book Day Token which can be used to purchase books. They will also bring home our new book lists.

These lists inform you of 10 books your children should read for their age/year group. As children read these books you can sign that they have completed these and when all 10 have been read the children will be awarded a Bookworm badge. Children will only be awarded for reading from their own year group lists. Copies of these books have been purchased for our school library for children to borrow. Happy Reading!

Sponsored Book Bingo

We hope you are all enjoying the book bingo activity and raising money for books for the school.  We will start to collect the money on the last week of term, starting Monday 30th March. All money should be sent into school before we break up for Easter on Friday 3rd April.

Reading Volunteers

We really value the time given to hear children read and hope that more members of our school community would be able to give up some regular time to listen to children read in school. If this is something you or a family member might be interested in doing, then please contact Mrs Baldock.

Football Team Update

On Wednesday 26th February, our A and B Football Teams played an away match against Chipstead Valley Primary School.  Despite a sudden cold downpour at the start, both our teams played well, with the B team winning 4 – 2 but Chipstead Valley’s A team just managed to sneak in a goal with 1 – 0 win to them.  Great effort everyone.  Grateful thanks to the parents for their support in transporting the children and cheering them on in the cold.

This week’s winning Dojo Classes are;

Winning EYFS/KS1 Class – 2G                   Winning KS2 Class – 3W
