Weekly Memo 9th October 2020
AIMING HIGH – SUCCEEDING TOGETHER
Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @woodcoteprimary
Ho Ho Ho… only 11 weeks until Christmas!
In the coming weeks your children will be creating festive designs at school which can then be ordered directly with our partner company as cards or other stationary items, see poster attached. Designs can be Christmas themed but they don’t have to be, anything goes!
You will receive a proof of their design with details of how to order after half term.
This is a fundraiser for us, so a small percentage of the takings will be given to Woodcote PTFA and we will let you know how much we have raised nearer Christmas. The more you order the more we raise!
We very much hope the children enjoy this fun activity.
Fair or no Fair we still plan to hold a Christmas Raffle. As always we need some STAR PRIZES to boost ticket sales, so if you have anything you can offer or know of businesses willing to sponsor all or part of a star prize we can offer lots of promotion in return. Let us know using firstname.lastname@example.org
We have a number of wonderful Extra-curricular Clubs with lots of spaces available:
Tennis – Years 1 – 6 (Mondays)
Cricket – Years 3-6 (Mondays)
Art – Years 1-6 (Wednesday still has places available)
Football – all sessions/year groups have spaces
Please do take a look at the School Website for more details http://www.woodcoteprimary.croydon.sch.uk/clubs/
Dropping off items to school
Please can you double check your child has everything before you leave the house. It is very disruptive for the classes and the office and means the office staff have to leave their zone/bubble and potentially enter other areas of the school. Thank you for your support with this.
Concerns about late testing for Secondary Places
Please find a link to information for parents who may be concerned about the impact on their secondary application of late testing dates if they are applying for grammar schools or schools where their child is required to sit a test. The advice is that in these circumstances only we will allow changes to preferences up until 10 December 2020.
Due to Covid restrictions we are unable to hold our normal Harvest Collection. We do hope that families will take the opportunity to donate to food banks and/or our normal charity Nightwatch during this time. http://croydonnightwatch.org.uk/

- Letter to parents of children starting Reception in 2021
Recording children’s absence
With the number of absences that are being recorded on a daily basis we thought it would help both families and the school office if you could complete a Google Form to complete your child’s absence. Below is the link or you can find this on the attendance page of our school website.
Votes for schools
This week the children discussed ‘KS1: Do you know your history? KS2: Does the curriculum represent you?’, as part of Black History Month. Next week they will discuss “Have we forgotten about the environment this year?” Attached is further information for families.
Diversity Week – W/C 19th October
As part of Black History Month and to promote diversity across the school, we will be holding a school Diversity Week. During the week, each class will look at a different artist (painter, sculptor, actor, musician….) and will celebrate their work.
